I completely agree, I'm not going to spend time fixing something when the creator can and will (eventually) do it better. The thing is, the maps do work for me. I'm curious about whether this is because of the small change to race_server.lua, some acl setting, or race is just a temperamental bitch.
EDIT: OK I think I've found out what the problem is. Race seems to have different 'modes', and if a map doesn't match one of these modes then it wont load.
Destruction derby No checkpoints, no respawn
Freeroam No checkpoints, respawn mode is timelimit
Sprint Checkpoints, respawn mode is timelimit
EDITEDIT: I added a mode for races with checkpoints and no respawn, the only changed files are meta.xml and a new file oldschool.lua, but I'll put the whole thing here. Maybe I lied a little about fixing it but I want it to work
Was woundering if anyone could help me out on how these memory addresses work. I don't need any help with the API / Coding aspects of it (writeprocessmemory, etc), but just on how VC handles these addresses and how to get text to display. From looking at these addresses when VC is displaying text, they format is like: W a l k i n t o t h e p i n k m a r k e r
where every space is char #20. So I try writing text in that format, but it never shows up -- and sometimes osme gibberish does show up which doesn't resemble the text I wrote to the address.
This is for a project me and [SS]Gunner are working on btw, a modified MTA version we're calling MTA:M. Any help would be appreciated.

outputing text on the left - up display 9670696 > text 8207936 > text - 2 copies, so the game sees one has changed and if so then updates it to that one.. the text fades out by itself.
center of screen (mission failed etc...) 7917312 > text - this text also fades out by itself
busted / wasted texts in lower right corner, this text STAYS there until you make the first char ZEROED 7917824 > text
rampage middle screen texts, i can't get these to work "by manual": 7918336 > text 7918592 > text 9670440 > text
