I have been playing both a little bit lately,

Americas Army 3 can be got through Steam for free as it is paid for by the American tax payers.
Its a little buggy though after a few patches it has been a blast.

Battlefield Heroes is a browser based game much like Quake Live, you will need to make an EA account then you download the game with your browser (IE or FF)
It is free to play with optional micro-transactions, I have been having fun without spending a cent and have no intention of doing so in the future either.

Given it uses memory injection, you probably have to disable any antivirus or add an exception for the exe, such that it can modify another programs' memory addresses (antivirus programs block this) - also running as administrator is likely to be required.

I suspect the reason your machine lags while running it is in fact that some other process is attempting to block sapt's activity.

Naturally, on other machines, the effect of the program is to indeed improve the performance of san andreas, not reduce it's speed.

as NikT says, the clans he suggested are all dm friendly, and ags is one of the best, i have not played on any of the other ones, not to mention, AGS has got some of the best drug members, its a great place to play
