Game monitors for DM and race now separate

[DRuG]NikT (25 Jun 2008 12:40 am)
I have installed a copy of the game server monitor widgets in the left margin onto a new web server I've also just installed onto the MTA DM server.

What this gives us, is live uptime status independently for the game servers in the left margin... since they are on separate servers, it had been annoying me that the "127 days" was only ever referring to the MTA Race/SAMP server, while the DM server, in fact, should have been reading a different uptime, as it does now.. and I am happy. smile

We're back with no data loss, all services restored using their same config and resource files intact, another shining example of DRuG not losing data - everrr.

MTA Race/Teamspeak/SAMP/Web Server Outage

[DRuG]NikT (18 Jun 2008 07:14 pm)
Due to a hard drive failure, one of my linux servers is currently offline.

Depending how smoothly things go, I may need to install a new disk and rebuild - just a matter of if I can repair the lost sectors... at this stage, fsck is failing and only mounting the disk in read only mode - see screenshots below.

I'll post more info as it emerges, but fret not, this isn't a permanent outage - just hardware failure.

After some fixing of the lost sectors, it appears there is major file damage, so it looks like this is at least going to require a full rebuild. See screenshots below - In the short term, I'm going to boot into a knoppix linux live CD, rescue as much data as I can, then rebuild using debian etch.. might take a night or two - in the meantime, get used to the errors in the left margin.

SAPT 3.3: San Andreas Performance Tool

[DRuG]NikT (01 Jun 2008 09:00 am)
Released a few days ago now on our forums, Slick does it again with an updated version of his San Andreas Performance Tool (SAPT).

SAPT is a trainer like program allowing you to tweak some important performance related settings whilst running the game. To improve quality of gameplay, particularly on older systems or to help max out on higher end machines.

Two separate versions are included in the update, for single player or multiplayer. The only difference between the two is the 30 fps frame limiter lock being disabled on the multiplayer version. This prevents any speed advantages over regular players without SAPT in MTA... Any attempts on using the single player version on multiplayer mods will most likely result in a kick!

This is intended as a friendly tool to help those with less powerful systems play San Andreas comfortably... please try and share our desires to make GTA better for everyone.

NOTE: SAPT only works with version 1.0 of San Andreas! Some anti-virus/spyware programs may detect the programs hotkeys dll as a keylogger, it is in fact nothing of the sort.

Awesome work again, Slick - more great follow-ups to user demands! Apologies I haven't put it onto the main site sooner - and remember peoples, keep an eye on our forums. cool

Lest we forget

[DRuG]NikT (25 Apr 2008 01:20 pm)
Anzac Day is commemorated by Australia and New Zealand on the 25th of April every year to remember members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who landed at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. Anzac Day is also a public holiday in the Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tonga.

DRuG extend our heartfelt respect and love to the peoples and families of all those that fought and often died for the love of their country - on both sides - during what were, like any war, regretful times. Lest we forget.

Rockstar Social Club Pre-Reg. Begins Tomorrow

[DRuG]NikT (17 Apr 2008 06:40 pm)
Rockstar Social Club, the central location for GTAIV (and beyond) game statistics, will begin allowing registrations tomorrow.

There will be special awards from Rockstar in the various areas of discipline, so those that wanna have an early registration date, tomorrow is the day!

In other news, my love life is currently in crisis, so I have been a bit distracted from GTA.. though putting a stack of time into developing the DRuG web.. many changes and updates have been applied to the forums, the game server monitor has been overhauled and updated, cutenews (this blog) updated and last but not least, my 'RSS agregated clans of the world forums' idea has finally hit the ground with some prototypes.. the goal here is to bring as many clans' news and activity into one place as possible... be sure to launch the Adobe Spry RSS reader in the right margin, and to try again in half an hour if the main site hasn't refreshed the feeds right - it updates every half hour, but it does fail, sometimes - I'm working on fixing this. DRuG's 'Planet' GTA, name ideas for this prototype should be emailed to nikt@drugcrew.com.

Things are quiet in the GTASA world, but if you scroll down on the forums to the game server monitor, turn on the autorefresh, and keep an eye out, things get busy all of a sudden in many servers.

DRuG it up peoples!

New MTA:DM Server, Race Resource updated

[DRuG]NikT (15 Feb 2008 09:35 pm)
Thanks to a heads-up from [DRuG]Smallo, I have just updated the race resource to the latest version.

Spectator seems to be improved, but it also does seem to do the odd weird thing I can't quite put my finger on. As a result I've just set up linux on a 1Ghz machine to see if this improves things, but it may just be because this is just a developer preview release, and has some issues.

Progress images of the desktop where I built the linux server - the top set are downloading and burning it, the bottom set are the new linux Xwindows desktop being fine tuned.... cool

I have updated all the MTA:DM race images to use the DRuG font and my personal blend of DRuG colours. Having spent a reasonable amount of time in DM tonight, I'm happy with the new look of the server.. I hope you all like it too.

Yay! The MTA:DM race server is now on the 1GHz box with Debian linux, running perfectly under Xwindows.

Enjoy peoples. cool cool cool
