Before you start, log-on as 'root' and have a floppy disk in your drive.
- 1 -
To mount your floppy drive i.e. make it accessible, enter:
mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppyThat's it, that's all there is to it. If you want to mount a Linux floppy disk, replace 'msdos' with 'ext2'.
- 2 -
To examine the contents of the floppy, enter:
ls /mnt/floppyNote
Until you unmount the floppy drive, '/mnt/floppy' is for all purposes 'just another' directory.
- 1 -
Enter:
startx...to start X Windows.
- 2 -
If the Control Panel is not displayed then right-click or left-click on the desktop to bring up the menu and select Programs > Administration > Disk Management.
- 3 -
From here you can select to mount or unmount your floppy drive.
