Holy shit dude, I have a spare adsl2 modem here if u like..

See if it does any better? Still, not a bad connection, especially since you'd be all linux.

thanks for the offer!

I havent bothered upgrading because thats the maximum linespeed I think I can get regardless of ADSL1 or ADSL2 modem - ADSL1 maxes out at 8M and I don't get anywhere near that. But I can deal, 300kb/sec is nothing to sneeze at.

Holy shit dude - that's some of the fastest intermenets I've ever seeen - leave it to the Kiwi's eh... Not only do you have harmony with one of the coolest indigenous cultures on earth (I love the Maoris), but you seem to focus more on technical perfection, particularly in electronics, than any other nation I've observed.

Its amazingly fast compared to what I'm used too!

Also just as a little kicker all the halls of residence in this area are connected in a University Network, allowing us to run what we call "The Hub" Which follows the same principles of p2p file sharing with torrents except at network speeds...For instance I just downloaded two HD movies of 8GB each in 5 minutes.

Ahhhh UNI network... they use their own backbone which is superior to the commercial/public internet and worldwide, but had rules relating to what they're legally allowed to use it for.
