Yeh, I live opposite a heritage listed ??brick mill?? - it's where most of the bricks that houses in Melbourne got their bricks from, back when all the Victorian townhouses were built... "most of Melbourne was built from here", as they say.. I just like it because the area looks kinda industrial, arty, grungy and modern/sharp all at the same time. One of the few examples of turning things into apartments that has turned out really nicely... though the middle bit is still undeveloped/restored due to debate regarding it's treatment between community groups and the developer. Personally I rather it in it's current state.
It's weird, speaking of developers... last night I found the forums that Grollo, one of Melbourne's biggest/richest developer individuals, hangs out and posts at - he's made > 2500 posts (this is the guy that wanted to have the tallest building in the world at Melbourne's Southbank - not a fan of that project). Not often you find a millionairre browsing a forums... I made a few posts that cover some issues that pertain to him, and had always wanted to pass on to him personally... surprised I found a place he'll actually read...
