Registering a domain for the drug forums

OK, I think we should register a domain for this path:

http://nikt.zog.net.au/drugcrew/plugins/bb304/index.php

Any ideas for a name are encouraged, as well as registrars that are known not to hijack the domain when the traffic starts coming in - this is a common problem with just using free domain referral services.. or they provide popups, eg...

http://drug.dontexist.org/

This isn't good enough - we need to register a domain such that we having the control to enter a full path to the host - and we don't want popups like that example.

OK, with a few referral scripts, I have rearranged things so the link to the forums works as:

http://drugcrew.com/forums

This seems intuitive enough for my likings... I don't think there's really need for a second domain for the forums.

Opinions anyone? I'm open to suggestions on this one - confirmation that this address is satisfactory are cool, too.

i think a subdomain would be better such as

http://forums.drugcrew.com

but if you don't have hosting that supplies that it's fine the way it is.

Nice idea, when I get a chance to talk to [DRuG]Elite, I'll have to get the domain mgmt panel address from him... I forget where we even registered that one, though I guess if I bust my nut I could remember.... Eliiiite???

Also, I've secured the databases, so there's no risk of us being hacked from the database not having a password... until now there was

I concur with Smallo, a sub-domain would in my opinion be the best way to handle it. There's no need for a new domain for this.

I can follow that too with an I. The GTAJunkies.com network's forums are attached
to their own domain being gtaforums.co.uk. I haven't yet mentioned this to n3wton,
because it hadn't dawned on me until now, but I rarely ever head over to the main
page anymore. My bookmark is direct to the forums.

I think that what would maximize traffic (if that is also a goal other than what's stated?)
is a new domain name, but one that leads the click-ee to the main page instead
of the forum. To offset any confusion, a plain-site quick jump (separate from the one on
the left navi of drugcrew home) could be placed @home as well. Odds are this
will drive new visitors to the main page, effectively creating a unique visit to both
places with each new person, whether they hang about with us or not.

PS: Do we have an admin/mod board I am as of yet disallowed to or are you
holding off on that until later, or keeping an open book, Nik?

Yeh there should be a link to the moderator control panel either at the bottom of your browser or the top right & about 2 down - "Moderator control panel".
