MTA:DM Maps debugged & all online

Well, after several hours of fiddling, we now have an MTA:DM server with no buggy race maps.

It was my intention to run an mta:dm race mode server, primarily, as I feel it takes best advantage of the replacement cars pack I want to optimize & have cover more (compact) vehicles.

This was a bit hard to implement, when half the races just got stuck on a black screen. With this issue now resolved, we have a total of 281 race maps. Although I am leaving the other modes on, I would prefer to see the server left in race mode - there's plenty of good DM servers out there, and really, I'd rather see people playing SAMP for DM.

What are others' opinions of DM in samp vs mta?

Overall, I think MTA':DMs lag compensation makes MTA:DM better than SA:MP for well... DM. The aim is much better in MTA:DM. In fact, if MTA:DM had SA:MP's gamemodes, I'd think no-one would even think of playing SA:MP much more. Still, SA:MP is still a great mod.

Nice work on the races there though.

Well, here's a zip of the broken maps and the list of those that failed post DM conversion testing.. Please double check on the server that another rename of the map you are trying to repair doesn't already exist..

Well I've tried examining them for any errors. At the moment, I have no idea what's wrong. All I know is it returns some access denied in the ACL of the race resource, even after giving the admin rights to the race resource, as well as saying there is no meta.xml file in the resource. The meta.xml appears to have no errors in them. I've even examined the .map itself, no errors found. :(

I think MTA SA: DM beats SAMP because it isn't like- my ping is 100 but I'm lagging like a 400.

It also offers more choices for modes, whereas in SAMP, whenever I went on it, it was a freeroam mayhem with hackers spawnkilling with miniguns.

I haven't been bothered visiting SAMP for half a year or more.

Well thats great although earlier today I was on the server and the race function did not seem to be working at all.

I joined and it was on the race mode, but twas just a constant barrage of spawning NRG500 which had me and another player completely trapped, in addition it constantly was saying race will restart in 3 seconds, and when 3 seconds was up everyone would get spawned back at the mountain of spawning NRG's, meaning if one managed to escape it wouldn't last long.

This also lead to me have network troubles until I lost connection with the server entirely, allowing me to repeat the process.

Eventually I managed to get a modevote to work, though it didn't work a lot prior (the vote came up but the countdown timer countinued on into the -ves, meaning the vote never ended)

Once I had managed to change the mode throughout several later modevotes the Race option did not appear.

Also while I'm at it I was wondering if it is possible for an admin to change a mode and map through the admin cp.

Still fantastic work sorting out the maps, I can't imagine how long it took to do that, I'm sure my problem was something minor, a disabled resource or something...(Demi pretends to know what he is talking about)

Yeh it took a fair while.

The issue is the map converters for 1.1.1>DM are a bit hit & miss - they don't always come out the same - sorta like the pet cemetary movie.

So the broken maps, for all I know, are very different than they were before they were converted. Possibly the best approach with a lot of them would be to just look for a dm version of the race... if only centre.mtasa.com or whatever it's called wasn't having issues, perhaps this area might be a little more clear.

I didn't try all of them, but those I did worked. The only thing I changed was commented out one line of race_server.lua in race.zip

I'm not sure if this is the same problem you had Nikt, are there any errors in your server log from before you removed the races like this?
