little help

Postby [DRuG]Ryant on Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:43 pm

hey guys

I've having this idea, and just wondering if its possible to do:

Ok as we know, at schools and that, students run programs that they shouldn't be, for example: Violent Games etc. Well if a program that runs on a server, and automatically deletes .exe that is recorded, like a blacklist of .exe files. Can that be done?
if can how i script that?

Sure its possible..
But it depends on how you're going to do it..

Your school should have an anti-malware program of some sort, and in that should be an option to disable the downloads of .exe files.. also, will pick up any suspicious or blacklisted .exe's that are run from the PC's..
You can add blacklisted .exe files within your anti virus, but that can just be easily taken advantage of by renaming the file..

So.. sure.. .exe's names can be recorded.. but that won't stop them from just renaming it..

Another way would be to just lock the PC right down.. using some sort of group policy.
This will stop any installation of programs, or saving files to desktop (user will have to save school work to their allocated network drive).. (totally customizable.. for eg, disabling right click of desktop)

But then again, there goes all the fun ?

Hope this helped just a little bit lol

There are often "portable" versions of software available - usually not made by the original vendor, but by hackers that want to be able to run a program without installing it. As the software tester/approver at my work, we are in a lockdown environment where people don't have the ability to install things.. this is the method whereby they usually run firefox. A lot of games are also available "portable", where all you need is a directory with the portable application in it, then you can copy it to any PC and just run without installing.

example: http://www.portableapps.com

I also have Halflife 2 and a few others as portable versions.
