Sure its possible..
But it depends on how you're going to do it..
Your school should have an anti-malware program of some sort, and in that should be an option to disable the downloads of .exe files.. also, will pick up any suspicious or blacklisted .exe's that are run from the PC's..
You can add blacklisted .exe files within your anti virus, but that can just be easily taken advantage of by renaming the file..
So.. sure.. .exe's names can be recorded.. but that won't stop them from just renaming it..
Another way would be to just lock the PC right down.. using some sort of group policy.
This will stop any installation of programs, or saving files to desktop (user will have to save school work to their allocated network drive).. (totally customizable.. for eg, disabling right click of desktop)
But then again, there goes all the fun ?
