Web 2.0 (ish) tools & user profiles - submit yours

Postby [DRuG]NikT on Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:53 pm

I still prefer flock - I've got the web 2.0 bug.. it automatically signs into the following services:

http://nnnikt.blogspot.com/
http://www.facebook.com/people/Nik_Trathen/1207756211
http://www.flickr.com/photos/nnnikttt/

These are some of the other web 2-ish services I have set up..

http://nnnikt.spaces.live.com/
http://pipes.yahoo.com/nikt
http://www.dapper.net/user-dapps.php?userId=17185

Is Google Earth really web 2?? They have a community website that predates it being Google Earth - I used to be a paid subscriber when it was Keyhole Viewer.. I created a fair few placemarks on the community bbs - it has now evolved into a google site...

http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/dosearch.php ... fromprof=1

The exciting thing about this one is, if you have google earth installed, it will take you to the placemarks everyone posts... mine are at the link above.

(plus a lot of others, but these are the ones I use)

I'm intending to add any other web 2.0 services I sign up to onto this list over time as I remember to include them..

I use these lists as much for my own reference as to recommend them to you.

Indeed, in fact I guess it was you who told me about Keyhole then, didn't you? I must admit, it did slow down a lot when google acquired it, but now it seems faster.

I use a lot of those services to promote affiliate products, CPA offers, and of course Adsense. I haven't gotten into facebook - I think I've seen their index page like twice. But I hear beyond the money making possibilities for the [moderately] tech savvy that can be harnessed using that site that it's also a very good and more powerful alternative to myspace but ONLY if you actually use a lot of the features as a member of either of the two. Unclear, but maybe I will try it out and see what the HL2/GTA modding scene is like on there, previewwwww?

Edit: Also, Twitter ftw, apparently, especially for any type of promotion... and SEO... use that at all? I've seen it, haven't used it.

Facebook is very good if you actually have friends in real life.

(jokes, but, it's true - you need to know the people in real life to get the full value out of it)

It is at it's strongest if a lot of people you know actively use it, since it can then be used to promote events to your social circle and so on - for example, gallery openings etc. are easily announced to your crew using it as a promotional tool... see example below:
