My internet incompatibility issue? Maybe?

Postby DragonMaster on Tue Feb 12, 2008 6:10 pm

My monitor kept freezing when I bumped it so I got my computer dust-free and that fixed the problem but a new problem stepped in. I can't get the internet to work on it. I click IE but it just makes multiple copies of it for every click, e.g. Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer Shortcut (1), Internet Explorer Shortcut (2) and so on. I reinstalled XP but it still didn't work.

I almost gave up then I tried installing IE7, I could get in but still no pages could be loaded. The modem said I was connected but I wasn't. I tried to go to my homepage but it couldn't load.

Is there a solution?

I suspect the underlying issue you might have there, is the keyboard or mouse.. try a different one? when you double click an application, it shouldn't go to create a shortcut instead. My theory is you have some kind of control key stuck down - maybe not the key, but the underlying contact... causing a click to behave differently.

Try a different keyboard and mouse.

What happens if you just type start/run/iexplore [ok] ???

It's not the mouse or the keyboard that's acting weird. I know that. I can click on something else and it runs, just not the internet. I can make it run by clicking it in the start menu but no pages load.

No internet= No MTA= No fun= Suicide within 4 weeks= All the MTA time I want in heaven.

Then my view rests with the rest of the crew here.. sif use explorer anyway.. it sucks donkey balls.

Get Firefox, Netscape or Opera... if for nothing else but to shed light on the issue.. and why the hell haven't you tried that anyway?

lol.

ok dragon try installing Firefox or something like that, still no internet, go to your local area connection and right click and click on repair. Hopefully it will finish and you will be able to connect to the internet with FIREFOX :p. If it stll doesn't work this will help you http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/RepairDNS.html
