Apparently there's a trick to get MTA working on Vista. Let me know how you go with that.

Windows Vista Ultimate: GTA:SA should work out of the box...
Windows Vista Home Premium: From my experience, it works out of the box, for some others, you may have to test different compatibility settings. Try setting Windows XP. If that doesn't work, try all the others. You can find the settings in the properties of the shortcut or the gta_sa.exe file.
^ That may work for other Vista versions too, but I've never tried. Try it for Vista Ultimate.

EDIT: Btw, did you know that the score of ~5 was meant to be the most powerful computers at the time of Vista's release? Wow.

GTA runs fine, 60fps with all settings maxed out :D

MTA looks like its going to be a bitch but at least samp works nicely :)

EDIT: actually I think I'll consider installing the browser fix...

MWHAHAHAHA

the computer I'm getting at the end of the year is better then that.

(that might sound rude but I'm excited cause I'm used to gta running at 10fps on lowest settings.)

I know how that feels, I spent the first 3 months of San Andreas on 1000Mhz PIII with 512, then the next 3 on an amd64 3500+ with 1Gb of marginal RAM - meaning, the system used to crash for "some unknown reason" then reboot at random.... during that time, I also managed to release 15 vehicles, all built on those 2 systems.. so don't let it stop u folks.

I give you an absolute guarantee, if u spend ~$100 on a new motherboard compatible with your existing ram & cpu, but with a PCIe slot, then spend $200 on an ATI graphics card with ~256Mb, your system will fly.

Heck, I even have ATI X800 pcie here spare that you could have if you're prepared to come get it in Brunswick, Melbourne.

I have a spare unused 6600GT PCIe card that was removed in an upgrade :P. Anyways, you must be willing to pay like $2000 for the system box only to get a computer better than Dabbomer's? That computer must be worth a fortune Dab!
