That's too bad that everything is so expensive in NZ.

As for A-data, they are ok I guess, just they are pretty low on the totem pole imo.
There are better companies and products.

As for overseas, I do it all the time.

I'm in Japan atm, and I bought my whole desktop off newegg and shipped it from the states.
First try on the build all parts worked.

And I buy misc comp parts and other things from amazon, never had a problem.

Right well after a whole bunch of looking around I've made some minor adjustments to what I plan on purchasing.

Case:
Corsair Graphite Series 600T

PSU:
Corsair Professional Series Gold 850-Watt

Motherboard:
ASRock X79 Extreme4

CPU:
Intel Core i7-3930K

CPU Cooler:
Corsair Hydro Series H80

Memory:
Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) x2

HDD:
OCZ 120GB Vertex 3 120GB 6Gb/sec SSD

Totals up to around 1900 NZD and I think should all be dandy....hopefully.

Do all the asian computer wholesalers run "swap meets" in nz, where you can go along and buy cheap parts at town halls? That's the cheap way to get hardware in Melbourne... or one of.

Certainly not that I have heard of....sounds ideal though, and a tad black market-ish.

I think I might just take the hit on the more expensive components and purchase them from here. At least I know I'll get great customer service, and quick shipping. Bit of a nuisance but hey, NZ is still a nice place to live lol.

Right for the sake of completeness may as well post what I will probably be settling on.
Few changes from before due to supply issues and just straight up change of heart.

Case:
Corsair Carbide Series 500R

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3

CPU:
Intel Core i7-3930K

CPU Cooler:
NZXT HAVIK Dual 120mm

Hard Drive:
A-Data S511 Solid State Drive

Memory:
Corsair Vengeance CML16GX3M4A1600C9, 4x4GB

PSU:
OCZ ZX Series, 1000W

Well the parts arrived last week. I put it all together on the Wednesday and she is working a treat. Very happy with how things went for my first build. Shes pretty blazingly fast compared to my old rig. Only problem I have which is a bit of a nuisciance is the bios doesn't recognize my ssd as a boot drive properly. It lists it in the boot override section so I can boot to it, but its not in the list of drives in the set boot priority list so I cant set it to top priority meaning I have to enter setup everytime I boot which is a bit of a pain. Anyone know of a reason for this?

Do you have the lastest firmwareupdate on the SSD? this could be the problem.

latest mainboard bios will often increase support for GFX cards, I'd expect maybe the same from HDD support.

Right well after changing the sata connector I was using for the ssd and reinstalling windows I was able to get it being correctly recognised and booted to it would seem. So now everything is more or less working properly now :)

So sure I'll post a few pics. A brief warning though, the lighting in my room isn't ideal and don't have the best camera in the world so the pics might not be brilliant....also some might be offended by my cable management....did have some difficulty with the provided cables not being long enough to all route behind the motherboard so I will get some extensions at some point and redo the cabling....maybe.

Front Side - Pretty standard, Power button and hard drive activity light, USB 3.0 connectors, mic and headphone cables, firewire port (not actually connected but I've never had need for firewire), Fan light switch, Fan speed slider, and reset button

Slight side view - Showing the side panel and fan intake appearing

The side 140mm fan

And again....

Side panel removed - Note the gloriously bad cable management (although actually its not as bad as it may look)

A wee peek down the side of the cpu fan at two of the low profile vengeance memory sticks

Me being weird......but the 140mm fan once again.
