thinking of buying an asus G53SW

Postby [DRuG]Widgit on Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:46 pm

I'm considering buying myself an Asus G53SW for Christmas.
Have any of you played around with one before?
Catch of the day had one last week with upgrades, a full gaming bundle, extended warranty and backpack/case for $1399. Kicking myself that I didn't have the cash in my everyday account right then as the lowest I've seen elsewhere is $1700 with less RAM, a smaller harddrive and shorter warranty.

So I decided against the G53SW and metabox options.
I figured, I'm not really into heavy duty gaming, I just really wanted something that was future (2012 aka gtaV) friendly. I do a fair amount of postprocessing/photography and photoshop work and some video editing. Plus some of the light games I play like sims 3, spore etc. I already have my desktop, so I just really wanted to upgrade to something closer to that, rather than lugging around my old laptop that feels super sluggish and has a dead graphics card.

I went for an Asus N73SV
1.5TB & 12GB DDR3
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM
2nd Gen Core i7 2670QM 2.2Ghz

So I think that ticks all my boxes and came in under budget, so I'm happy. :)

Nice one.

Asus make good quality lappies and their support is very good if it breaks.
