DRuG TS MTA & SAMP servers (were) offline up to a month

Postby [DRuG]NikT on Fri May 15, 2009 5:07 am

I'm moving house, as many of you may know.

The game servers get moved tomorrow (web/forums will remain online, of course) - MTA, SAMP, Teamspeak, nikt.ath.cx/drug.kicks-ass.net will all be offline until my ADSL goes online at the new address, which I will apply for tomorrow, assuming the power is on there.

In the short term, I will still be able to play as usual on AGS samp, littlewhiteys/SiK MTA race 1.1.x and ALW MTADM nightly snapshots, if it appears again. My regular maintenance/modding of and participation in the forums and scene should continue as normal, from past experience.

This is possible thanks to my Optus prepaid 3G USB dongle.. does 7Mb link to the net and plays online games with a usable ping/lag level.

I applied for my adsl to transfer to the new address, with Annex-M requested from the outset - this dramatically increases the upload bandwidth on the connection, which spells great things for DRuG's GTA servers - I've allocated enough bandwidth budget that hosting a busy server wouldn't be a problem, either.

So stay tuned folks.. iinet are saying 20 days is the official quoted time usually, but that at the moment they're tracking through at about 11 days. Since they supplied me with a number I was able to call and establish the phone number, we are sure the connection is going to a valid pair, and indeed, the correct line.. mixups on that level are what usually prolong ADSL setup for those uninitiated. Since we're on a business plan still, the IP should remain the same.. only thing overall that should change is faster upload and more stable uptimes.. over the last 6 months of share housing, lets just say the connection hasn't been 24/7.

ETA date to new connection.. 5th June... being optimistic with their estimates.. but yeh.. that's my bet.

My ADSL2 came online tonight - not gonna post a speedtest yet coz they only have me on 1500 until the service is fully provisioned tomorrow, but I'm BACK!

Servers won't be back until tomorrow when I get the full speed.

Yay!

OK - line speed is now at full.. I've done a speed test - _1_ speedtest - so these results are based on peak period on a Friday night, so the theoretical available maximum bandwidth is potentially a lot higher than this...

OK we're back online - servers seem to be running very well.

Request date - May 25th ... Connect date - June 4th.

That's 10 days, a day less than iinet dude promised.

I like iinet dude.

And his ISP

Stay tuned for big developments over the coming days as we network with the AGS samp server. :ugeek: :ugeek:

iinet has a slider on their website in your account toolbox that adjust the profile for the connection such that spped or stability is prioritized.

Since you can't enable the maximum "Gamer" slot, I have chosen the one short of it - "Thrillseeker". "Gamer" is only available if your connection is not configured with AnnexM, which ours is - offering 2.5Mb upload speeds.. worth the compromise, which would be minimal, I'd suggest.

With our new configuration, check the results difference from speedtest.net:

Fine!!!
Like this way , I test my internet speed test, through this site www.scanmyspeed.com
My speed test results are,
upload speed:0.52 kbps
download speed:1.96 kbps
it has the best results for the internet speed test and also i downloaded for my internet without any flash or java or any other add ons to check the speed everyday.............it shows the right level of speed................
