What is Generation Y ??
Hmm, I've always wondered this myself... now I know.

- People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation..

- The Baby Boomers, are people born between 1946 and 1959.

- Generation X, people have been born between 1960 and 1979.

- Generation Y, are the people born between 1980 and 2009

Why do we call the last group Generation Y? I never did know, but recently a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below...

wikipedia wrote:
There have been many conflicting attempts to enumerate the generations of the western world. Here are a few common definitions:
  • The Silent Generation is the generation that includes those who were too young to join the service during World War II. Many had fathers who served in World War I. Generally recognized as the children of the Great Depression, this event during their formative years had a profound impact on this generation.
  • Generation X is the generation generally defined as those born after the baby boom ended, extending from around 1960 to the late 1970s. They were the first generation with widespread access to television during their formative years. Other names used interchangeably with Generation X are 13th Generation, and Baby Busters.
  • Generation Y is also known as Generation Next or the Millennials.Generation Y spans from the late 1970s to the late 1990s.
  • The following Generation, referred to as Generation Z, and various other names, was born between the mid-1990s and end of the 2000s.

If you were a kid during the 80s and/or 90s you're of Generation Y. If you were born in the late 90s and can't remember back that far you would be of Generation Z. Generation Y is the ultimate generation, bought up both before and alongside the beginning of the digital age. It's quite interesting if you have a good read into this. Couldn't go past this topic without correcting it! :)

Gen X and Y overlap in a lot of ways and I think being at the beginning of the Gen Y group I really have a lot more in common with X's than I do Y's. As Grish and I frequently taking over in game chats with childhood tv show reminiscing probably proves. ;)

PS Grish they remade astro boy wtf! and where the wild things are is FINALLY out!
