The exciting thing is, with USA based MTA + web servers (for the resources) and an Australian based MTA server (using the US server for resource hosting), game synch is pretty smooth all round. Resources still travel in fast, and with the new ghostmode feature of MTA, lag isn't such an issue.
To take advantage of this new flexability of MTA, DRuG have begun introducing as many good vehicles as we can find, adding a new instance of each map, then including a custom vehicle with a soft limit of around 4Mb. I've heavily compressed a lot of the txd files to reduce the overall download.. this involved halving many of the texture image sizes and including any custom textures in the main such that they show up in multiplayer. Reduced textures rarely have any noticable change in game, since the only reason you originally make them so big is for a subtle improvement in the first place.. I know this since I've UV mapped and textured a lot of vehicles.
Now that the volume of vehicles has exceded 750Mb, refreshing resources can freeze up the server for nearly a full minute, so we have introduced a second, passworded test server, with all the races removed and external resource serving disabled.
This new test server allows us tweak vehicles, remove glitches like bad spawning, dragging collision files, wobbling panels, oversized wheels and other quirks that we're learning to overcome. By using a test server, we only need to publish new maps with custom vehicles when the server is quiet, avoiding server pauses and other annoying breaks in play to the players.
DRuG plan to keep adding more vehicles... the focus at this stage is to debug the existing vehicles to incorporate fixes to things we've learnt along the way, but also to concentrate on introducing as many new ones as we can.. it's a tricky balance, so if you see some weird bugs, be patient.. they will be fixed eventually.. perhaps PM me on the forums or better still, post on this thread, so I can can mark which ones need fixing.

Note this resource pack is only of use for playing on the DRUG and AGS servers - it does not include all parts of the resources, only the resource cache, such that your game client doesn't have to download them in game.
