lastRSS slowing down the loading of the board index?

Excuse me, [DRuG]NikT, if you have a spare moment fine sir, I'd like to alert you to the fact that those rss blocks on the board index are caching every hour?? don't you realize that would be slowing down the forums dramatically?? Are you crazy? Please set it to 8 hours or something reasonable, would you?

Well yes, I was aware they were set like that, it was for when I was changing them all the time, fine tuning them according to what was suiting the posts arriving on the feeds.

Now that I understand their behavior, I could set them, as you, oh so wisely suggested, to around 8 hours... I noticed they were causing great pauses in the page loads when the feeds were due to rebuild.. I guess the user that loads the board index when they're due has to wait while they re-feed.

And in answer to your question, am I crazy.. you aughtta ask yaself the same question mate.
