Version 2.0.0.11... and it happens on other machines, too.

On the other hand, it doesn't happen with my "firefox portable" packaged install that doesn't actually require install to run.... THAT one works fine remembering the logon... so it's some weird arse browser issue & the way it sees the domain in it's cookies, I guess... nooo cookies for the fox.

*edit* gotta say, after getting netscape themed using the same page you get any other mozilla/firefox theme and installing them from there, I'm preferring both the finishing on netscape, and its overall layout... yay!

Final analysis of the persistent logins issue (resolved) that some were reporting...

This issue was resolved after the update to phpbb3.0.0 gold stable from rc8 - it turned out to be nothing to do with the site, but rather, Firefox 2.0.0.11, no other browser exhibits this issue.

This can be resolved by using FireFox Portable:

http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

This is just a repackage of Firefox's latest - 2.0.0.11, and works fine with retaining the logon.. perhaps because it maintains it's settings base separately from the installed-into-xp build. You just install it into a directory as a user, not necessarily as admin, and run it from there.

I only got to work this out after trying a fresh install of phpBB3 3.0.0.0 gold on a new database, then was able to see the issue persist, even on an out-of-the-box install.

See for yourself at http://nikt.zog.net.au/drugcrew/plugins/bb3

lastRSS agregator for phpBB3 (2.0.BETA2 - updated 16/12/07) by Smix

OK, I've updated lastRSS - this is the news ticker you will now see on the board index, just above the mta server stats block.

The old version used to display them in a big table, but it had issues in internet explorer.. so it's good to now have a version that looks good in most browsers.

I'm not as happy with the news ticker format they've adopted, but I guess it does keep things tighter looking and more compact.

The new version is not as lax with it's parsing of feed addresses, so I am unable to run them through Yahoo's pipes service.. as a result, incorrectly named theme's will just have to appear with their dodgy name.

OK,

While cross testing the config. of lastRSS, and making sure it was working on all themes, I noticed I had broken the cookies (AGAIN) in internet explorer - it's now fixed, and should work in all browsers except Firefox 2.0.0.11 - if you get logged out of the board, it is an issue specific to the desktop build of Firefox 2.0.0.11 - if you get Firefox Portable (2.0.0.11) or Netscape, the board will stay logged in fine.

OK, so you've all seen what RSS syndication makes possible with the lastRSS news ticker/block that can be found toward the bottom of the board index with the bright orange logo.

But what about if you want to monitor our forums here, using RSS?

Wouldn't it be great if you could nominate a forum and a postcount, then have those forums appear in any RSS feed monitoring tools you might find in say, igoogle or some other news management tool?

Well now you can! This also means other clans can have our forums appear on their boards - very handy for integration of the scene into other CMS's.

Simple Syndication phpBB 3.0 ATOM/RSS content syndicator 1.1.1b by Angelside.

Available feed operators:
count = how many posts to display.
fid = forum id - what forum to display.
t = topic - only display topic number.
?type=atom = Display feed using atom protocol (disabled).
?type=rss = (default) = Display feed using rss protocol.

example:

http://nikt.zog.net.au/drugcrew/plugins/bb304/syndication.php?count=3&fid=2,5

Will display the latest 3 topics from forums 2 and 5.

If you want to show only a specific topic, use these parameters:
(the forum and topic id's can be extracted from a direct link to the thread in question)

http://nikt.zog.net.au/drugcrew/plugins/bb304/syndication.php?count=10&fid=3&t=19

You can call this script without as many specific parameters to get an RSS feed with the latest posts from all our forums.

example:

http://nikt.zog.net.au/drugcrew/plugins/bb304/syndication.php?count=20&type=rss

THIS SCRIPT WILL ONLY SHOW POSTS FROM PUBLIC FORUMS.

You will see new links next to each forum description, allowing you to link to the rss feed for that individual forum area. These feeds can be incorporated into a stack of different news tools and web based systems.. let me know if you use them - It'll be great to see our stuff out there.

example feed link to the vehicle mod showroom:

OK, I've added new game-monitor blocks, based on LGSL standalone 3.1 by Richard Perry - modified heavily by [DRuG]NikT.

This means I don't have to continue paying $10 a month to get something I can just as easily manage in php from my own server.

I've modified the scripts a fair bit at this stage, so they best suit our needs... in the near future I'll be looking into adding player history graphs again.

Enjoy.

Tiny tweak, this one, but I've updated the for the SimpleDark series, including Grish's skin, so they have better legends in the board index, and LED's indicating when there's new posts.

If anyone's interested, the original images were sources from a photo I found via google image search..

http://technabob.com/blog/2007/07/30/lu ... rful-glow/

Might be an interesting product.. if you wanted to really cut sick, you could buy a set, and rig up some sort of indicator panel for when there's new forum posts. lolll.

Well, we're on the new phpBB3 CarbonCopy theme, designed specifically phpbb3 3.0.0's gold release which we're running.

I have just updated the lastRSS agregator for phpBB3 to 2.0.BETA3 - A fantastic mod by Smix

Just updated the top margin, where the register/logout items appear - now with user control panel where they should be. Also removed a link in that line to "View your posts", which is available in many other areas, but doesn't belong in the top area which is already overcrowded. There should be room up there for most usernames, now.

K, I've been cutting sick on the forums today.. not SiK.. don't worry.. (fuck that was a bad joke)

I've just installed Affiliates Mod 1.0 Beta by topdown.

If you have any recommendations for sites, other than the obvious, let me know. If I miss the obvious, also let me know.
