I've just tweaked the image sets on the default 'Carbon Copy' theme - they were inconsistent in size and theme, so now they're DRuG'd up a bit.. Source as linked below..

OK, I've just updated phpBB (the entire board's framework) from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3.. there were some issues with the country flags mod, which broke the ability to view topics. This was resolved by downloading the full package and using the new version's view_topic.php, since it appears the core functions to the country flags addon were lost in the merge. I won't be missing it, but you watch, I bet it starts to annoy me and I add a new flags mod.

:evilgrin:

Let me know if you experience any problems - the sooner I spot them, the better - and given this one included updated default style pages, and we're on a modded style, it may need some more 'hands on' updating of the actual template pages.. hopefully not.

It was getting stuck on the last file, too, which was resulting in it not completing the update and reporting the same (directly copied) file was not updated... I worked around this by directly updating the "check for updates" tab of the admin control panel to report the new version.. this wasn't really a lie though, since the general tab was correctly reporting the updated version already, and it was on the final file of the update, which I copied in manually.

The phpbb.com forums has a few people reporting the same difficulties, but no solution has been offered.. I just posted what I did, but it seems that's a moderated forum, so it'll be interesting to see if they let my 'hacky' solution through.

Well it seems they published my post in the moderated support area of phpbb.com, with nobody contesting my suggestions, I suspect the update is complete.. though I still don't like the idea of manually adjusting anything like that...

Since updating phpBB to latest release, I have had to drop the Flags mod - it was stopping the file merges running smoothly to the new version... as a result, I have encountered a few functions on the forums broken as a result of calling the now missing flags mod.. this included reading private messages, which is now fixed.

If you spot any further errors, please let me know - they will probably refer to invalid SQL calls... please paste the error into a private message if you spot one.. though I am hoping I've already found them all.

I also lost the edits for the total index page loads in the stats area on the board index.. this is now fully fixed and restored with the counter itself restored to it's approximate figure based on the cached google version of the page.. http://209.85.173.132/custom?q=cache:NA ... =clnk&cd=1

OK, I've just updated phpBB from 3.03 to 3.04, which keeps us up to date at the latest release.. once again there were problems getting the update installer script to recognize the updated files had been replaced, so once again I had to manually edit the version fields to reflect the completed update... not such a fan of having to do this, it's contributing to my new desire to run a fresh install of the full version then reinstall the mods and reimport the database.. but I would prefer to save this for the next major version update, really.

Let my know if you receive any errors on the board - preferably paste them into a private message to me.

LOL So what one thing do you think broke?

Fixed, after a lot of juggling, setting up a second install of phpbb 3.0.4 and copying out the files I needed after failing miserably at juggling tables to try and just import everything into a vanilla board, I managed to actually repair every aspect of the original install... there were a few areas of the admin control panel that were broken, plus the private message feature, all of which now work.

Annnd with no loss of data. :D

The Page Load Counter Mod has broken on the last few releases, requiring me to re-edit only one part of the install back, in following the updates to phpbb itself..

Open: includes/functions.php

Find
Code: Select all
      'SITE_LOGO_IMG'         => $user->img('site_logo'))

Add before
Code: Select all
      'PAGE_LOAD_COUNTER'      => sprintf($user->lang['PAGE_LOAD_COUNTER'],$config['page_load_counter']+1),

Strangely, the other edits from the mod are retained in functions.php - it just doesn't seem to merge this one.. weeeird. For anyone asking themselves "who is he writing this for" - the real answer is, me - this is how I can organize the updates and refer back to what's happened previously.

I've just fixed the CarbonCopy Imageset, which, since the upgrade, had screwed the instant message icons under everyone's avatar alongside their posts. Turned out they had reverted to the standard size for phpbb icons which is 24x24 - I much prefer 16x16 - they all fit on one line.

I mainly document these things in case the problem comes back later and I need to track back to fix it again, if anyone's wondering why I ever report this stuff.
