In it's final incarnation, this will amount to an apple, android and maybe a few other icons in the banner corner that will link you to the application installer... should be a funky trend... considering I thought it up myself will be interesting to see how quickly it's copied by half the globe... from past experience it's lightning fast.
There will be ports for IOS, Android... mayybe Nokia and a few others... it's a simple app - only requirement really to keep it simple is a web based app maker for that platform... all it has to do is render a few web pages so I've just been using web based application makers, which I assume are available for IOS and Symbian, at least to generate a web based app.
It will have tabs to monitor our servers, chat, see the ladder, current players, latest forums posts using the RSS feeds, see the main community server list, live map, then maybe more as it develops.
There's a lot of subtle changes that need to be made to pave the way for it, which I've already started working on and considering. Today I've adjusted the ladder and other webstats to pull a maximum of 1000 records, where previously I've left it showing the whole database for the ladder. If anyone hadn't noticed, the ladder consists of > 5000 positions, a lot more I think, but it's amazing it never crashed out the browser with a page that long... I was kinda waiting to see which one would first.
More info as it emerges.
