Mta Unofficial Update

Hi me and a guy called towcivillian are deveopling the mta 0.5 unofficial update and we have run into a problem in order to edit the scms we would need to use the no crc client so we did....

but now when we want to release it we want to put crcs back in we were wondering if any drug member would help us to do this

Yeh but it aint no small feat... NeoVortex decompiled the encryption on Vice MTA at one stage when they refused to add modding server as an option in the .ini, so we used to be kinda on a hate mission against them for it.. but from what I understand, that was like months of being inside the protocol that led him to understanding what needed to be done... I'm not sure NeoVortex is that focussed on the GTA/MTASA protocols as we all were back in those days.. we do have focus in those fields, just not specifically those areas, if you get my meaning.

I doubt Neo has even read this thread, since I don't think he's even signed up here on the forums, however, he is active on my MSN... I'll mention this thread to him next time I see him.

Good job at misspelling my name two years ago, Gunner.

So as Gunner stated, I've been working on an update to MTA 0.5's SCMs since early summer 2007 (why I'm still here? I don't know!) and haven't been able to release anything due to lack of support and/or sources from the original MTA 0.x team. The CRC checking has been a brick wall all this time. Somebody suggested to make a .dll that gets injected into MTAClient which will disable CRC checks and run our own every 30 seconds (so if users try to swap files out, they'll get kicked soon enough). It sounds like that'd work well enough. I obviously can't bundle the NoCRC with a public release, so we'll need to bypass CRC checking some other way. Gunner claims to have the addresses that need to be nop'd to disable CRC checks, so we shall try that! Hopefully it will have fewer errors than the DRuG NoCRC (no offense; under Windows 7 it makes MTAClient give errors such as 0x6AD94B53 [the CRC of 0.5 MTAD.SCM] or doesn't work sometimes when swapping out mtas.scm).

That's probably the best analogy I've heard yet. But nobody from the original MTA 0.x dev team will help me and the team doesn't want to release any sources for some reason. I've put a lot of effort into it and want to get it released, even if superior multiplayer mods for GTA3/VC are just around the corner.

I do, but he hasnt done anything with regards to MTA for over 2 years.
